Suggestions for shotguns

Was thinking, would it be possible and desirable for shotguns to have damage dropoff?

Meaning you're hit into more places nearby thus it does higher overall damage, in comparison when standing far away (due to spread). To certain extent, one can say there is statistical influence of cth dropoff, but one would have to shoot statistically significant number of enemies to see the effect, it's not exactly intuitive power decrease...

Then it would make sense to give shotguns much higher inherit base CTH but with lower impact of skill (eg. 1/2 of the skill modifier or less).  So hitting in a cone becomes much less skill sensitive. Also because there is now combination of CTH dropoff and DAM dropoff at play. You might get higher chance to hit a guy in a shotgun cone than with a pistol at low skill but if he's standing far away you will be only grazing him. All in all, it would be useful for CC generalists who use firearms as well as melee (usually the game pushes into strict specialization).

Can see the logic and it would help distinguish the weapon further from other weapon types. Will certainly have a look at it.

Oh, that was... surprisingly easy :o

Though, if it will end up in, perhaps a damage dropoff would benefit from some UI help. I suppose such additional work is also a factor.
For example, a shotgun cone having a color and/or intensity gradient.
