I managed to fail a mission by getting Case killed. Then I went back to main menu and suddenly Sam is level 9 and has ridiculous amount of health. If there is a save file, please let me know, in case it helps debugging.
-
Thanks for the report. Did you use an existing save file (from V10 or before) by any chance?
-
No, I started freshed. I expected the old save not to work, so I did not bother.
-
Where are all saved games kept on Mac?
-
Should be: ~/Library/Application Support/Timeslip Softworks/Vigilantes
Yeah, just wanted to eliminate the possibility of an earlier version save. I'll track down this bug and get it fixed.

I've been trying to re-create this bug. Haven't been able to yet. Here are the steps I've used:
1. Fail to save Ray Case, resulting in mission failure
2. Select "Main Menu"
3. From Main Menu, select "Load", and then select the autosave slot
It loads normally in my case. Am I doing something wrong? Thanks

You should see it immediately in the home screen where you see all character stats. No reload is needed

Thanks. So picking the restart from home option that appears when the mission is failed causes it to trigger also?
-
Still no luck getting this bug to occur. When the mission has failed, I've tried:
1) Restart from home (in the mission failed menu)
2) Going back to main menu, then loading in the autosave (in the mission failed menu)
3) Pressing escape to bring up the menu, and loading the autosave from there
None of these routes has caused the bug to occur, which makes it difficult to solve. If memory serves, you are on Mac? There is a possibility that the issue is specific to Mac, or to a subset of Macs, or even a subset of computers running different operating systems. With so many hardware and software configs, it can happen. I'll try to recreate on my Mac when I'm testing the builds, using a development build so I will have access to debugging info. If I'm missing something, or doing something wrong in trying to recreate, please let me know and I'll investigate further.
I'll also look at holding the last 2 autosaves in order to prevent issues with data corruption.

If it helps, for me, v14 linux build, it's the Restart From Home option which leads into an unplayable state: it goes back to the base on the character screen, but with white background and no skills stats nor name, no party info, or shop there, nothing. I cannot even reload, unless first going into the main menu. Though I'm not aware any savefile corruption.
Just to understand, can I ask what is the purpose of failing / not-failing the intro mission of a party member? Is this a way they can die?
-
Thanks. I'll try to recreate this issue. From V15, you won't have to restart most missions. Exceptions are the first mission and ally encounters.
The allies can't die, but your goal is to extricate them from danger. If you don't do that, you've failed the objective.
-
Can anyone recreate this one? It appears to be fixed, though I mustn't have noted it at the time.
-
Seems to me like the issue we discussed in later versions here:
http://timeslipsoftworks.com/forum/index.php/topic,214
Practically, if you go into an ally mission without any autosave being made or already present among savefiles and fail the mission by letting the ally die.
How recreated in v18:
-- Delete any "Autosave"
-- Goto an ally mission (no prior autosave being made).
-- Let the ally die
-- Click at Restart from Home button
-- It brought me onto city map without HUD, Esc into the menu.
-- Cannot load nor save game, but you can click at Resume button...
-- That brought me back Home with tabs but the game is pretty much bugged, see attached images.
-- Quitting from game or going to the main menu and loading any other save from there works ok.
Found out one very unsettling thing...

Thanks Ushas. I've added a save to before ally missions now, so I don't think this will happen anymore.
-
I know you've added autosaves for allies, read that elsewhere else, only tried to reproduce the home corruption.
However, the main issue wasn't "no prior autosave created", it was that the game doesn't handle the situation when there isn't any suitable to load from well. There needs to be some proper test on the autosave loading, the game taking us to the main menu if there is no save or is corrupted, for example. Apologies, if that was already addressed.
-
I agree - there is an underlying issue that needs to be looked at.
-
Pretty sure this one has been resolved, either http://timeslipsoftworks.com/forum/index.php/topic,214 or in the later, similar issue Ushas found around launch time. Have tried removing all saves and attempting load as well, just to cover that angle
