How to reproduce: When having a mission with temporary joinable NPC. During his turn use the key bound to character sheet. Voila! You can access his character sheet, with a white background instead of the body portrait.
Via the button it's inaccessible.
Suggestion: There are ok-like stats - are those correct? (he is a little bit cheater though). Because then you may as well let us see his char. sheet. It's useful info for players to be able to assess stats, after all. You can use those nice hand drawn portraits here... As a player I won't mind no full body one. The same one as in the inventory would be completely ok. Rest of the area can be just black or some background, or info, I dunno. See attached image for illustration.

I think the easiest solution would be to undo the key bindings : )

I'll met you half way... the key bindings are still in place, but the character screen of temp allies remains out of bounds :)
