Loot dropped in the map

Just a quick query.
Does loot dropped in the map need to be collected?
I assumed that clicking the loot and run button at the end automatically grabs it all.
I assumed that the dropped packs are just there in case you need to grab something during the current combat.

Are my assumptions correct?

Yep, you've got it. No need to pick it up, loot and leave does that for you. Yeah, initially you did have to pick it up, but got some feedback and saw the benefits to the pacing so changed it.
