Reloading with no ammo still uses up AP
« on: January 18, 2017, 01:40:26 PM »
I was going to put this down as a bug, but this may be as intended.

I hit reload and was apparently out of ammo. It sill used up my AP though.
Gameplay-wise, you're already in trouble because you're out of ammo. Losing the AP to find out seems like a double-penalty.

Totally not a bug. It's an undocumented feature : ) This needs to be looked at, will recreate and find the problem. Cheers!

I've tried to recreate this by firing a shot, with none of the correct ammo in inventory, and clicking on the reload button on the UI. It won't let me reload, flashes "No Ammo". Is it possible you might have had a few bullets and there was a partial reload? I'll try again when I'm testing this build, but if you manage to recreate, please let me know!

It is possible... err... no... no it's not possible, because the gun was empty after the reload.
If it works properly most of the time, don't worry about it.
We'll see if it happens again and then go from there.

Ah, ok, just wanted to eliminate a possibility. The intermittent bugs are much harder to track down, but I'll keep an eye out for this one, and will have a look over the code to see if something jumps out.

Yeah.... I have a suspicion.
I suspect this was on that handgun that I upgraded from six shots to seven. Err... I mean, it WAS on that handgun... I'm not sure how long after I upgraded though.
I also had that issue when I upgraded that gun, that it wouldn't let me put an extra bullet in it back at base before I went out (just that first time after it was upgraded).
BUT.... I do remember reloading in the field and having it reload correctly to seven bullets and working correctly from then on.

Thanks  for the extra info. I'll upgrade the general arms patriot and see if I can recreate the bug.

I wouldn't sweat too much about this one if I were you.
It seems pretty minor and limited in scope.
I'm sure there are lots of other things that need more attention.

I'll keep an eye out for it in future.

There was an error with the gun's stats, which I fixed so this may resolve the issue. If it isn't fixed, it will turn up at some point, and can deal with it then. I'm with you on that, to make the best game possible, good decisions need to be made about what to spend time working on - it's especially important for a small studio.
