Suggested death mechanic
« on: November 16, 2016, 02:07:34 PM »
Hello. I just thought I'd throw a suggestion into the mix and see if you're interested.

Rather than just have an option to reload the last save, I thought of another idea.
As the bad guys leave you to die with the sounds of sirens approaching, you stash your gear in a drain just as the ambulance arrives (this is assuming that the character isn't specifically known to be the vigilante).
With no weapons or suspicious gear you are assumed to be a victim and patched up (pay hospital bill). Then you are sent on your way.
You lose all the gear you had on you, but it is stashed in that location on the map. You can get it back, but you have to go back to that zone (which will likely still have hostiles in it).

Then, there is also an ambulance contact. If you lose a fight and are picked up by an ambulance, you don't have to stash your gear. Your contact stashes it in the ambulance and gives it back to you when you leave the hospital (he believes in what you are trying to do).

I just thought the above mechanic might have better continuity than just hitting "load last save". Of course many people will likely just reload anyway, but this is an alternative.  =)

Hey Nomad. I like the idea, thank you. Hopefully development will go smoothly, and there will be time to enhance the game with ideas like this. I think at present, the mission fails if entire party is KO, or if you are trying to rescue an ally, if the ally dies. Along a similar line to your idea, I was thinking of adding a retreat option, which allows you to pull out of the mission if you can get your team to a location on the map. Any allies left behind would need to be rescued afterwards.
