On Reloading
« on: July 30, 2017, 06:19:29 PM »
Was thinking that reloading times are sometimes low, more like a delay than tactically important - something that may possibly give your enemy an edge, a window of opportunity (isn't that why soldiers tend to shout about doing reloading so their comrades protect them?). Now I know the game is far from realism, but RL can still serve as an inspiration.

So first of all I would like to suggest revolvers having much bigger reload times than semi-auto pistols (see Patriot).

Secondary, reloading times all over the board can go up (to be more comparable with shooting times, add variety, etc.).

An example of changes:
Semi-auto pistols: 2-3 AP -> 3-4 AP
Revolvers: 3 AP -> 6 AP
Shotguns: 3-4 AP -> 4-5 AP
SMGs: 4 AP -> 4-5 AP
Precision Rifles 4 AP -> 7 AP
Assault Rifles 4 AP -> 6 AP

Would give poor pistols (aka a low base damage) a boost. A good weight capacity then also plays a role because lets you carry around a second pre-loaded gun, etc. Exact numbers aren't so important. What wanted to say is that you can make something more impactful out of reloading.
